Miller celebrates in NS

_DEW0080.jpg(CNS): With results overwhelmingly in favour of one man, one vote in the constituency of North Side, independent MLA Ezzard Miller had much to celebrate. Despite a lower than hoped for turn out across the country, indications in his own constituency are that those who have gone to the polls have voted 'yes.” More than 80% of registered voters there who went to the polls voted in favour of OMOV, representing more than 60% of the entire electorate. If that rate had been repeated across Cayman, it would have equated to a 'yes' result.

“I am appreciative of the turnout in North Side and pleased with the result as it shows when you work with the people for the benefit of the people you can get a good result,” he said. “It also demonstrates that the vitriolic attacks on me by the premier had no effect on the intelligent voters of North Side."

As the results began to come in on Wednesday evening indicating an overwhelming 'yes' vote in East End at 257 versus only 79 voting 'no” and a marginal 'yes' vote in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, Miller said he was still optimistic for a moral victory for the OMOV campaign, if not a legal one.

“I am still optimistic that the vote will show the majority of people who voted were supporters of OMOV," he said. “If we have a significant number of  'yes' votes across Cayman then the UDP will have some explaining to do. Based on the final result, I still plan to bring a motion that the government should take note of the majority of the turnout.”

Preliminary referendum results

CBLC:           yes - 256, no - 203

East End:     yes - 257, no - 79

North Side    yes - 335, no - 56

President and Leader Ezzard

President and Leader Ezzard we are asking you to do something about those fat salarys that Politicians are earning. This is why every cat and dog want to join the race for. If their earnings was like ours we would get a better choice of Politicians. As far as we can see you are the Leader of the Cayman Islands and will Oficially be comes May. We are tired of men without back bone. In our Community we want to acknoledge good young men that should be groomed from now , such as Garth Arch, Rohann Moxam Johnathan Pierson and the one for Cayman BRAC  is a secret. Also terms in and you re out should also be introduced. Some believes that only death should take them out.

In East End 79 people voted

In East End 79 people voted NO, and in North Side 56 people voted NO. I will have to borrow a word from George Dubya to explain this, but I think that I may have mis-underestimated the ignorance of some people.

Can you imagine what some political scientist might think when he/she tries to rationalize why someone living in a single-member constituency (with little chance of it increasing in the foreseeable future) is not happy with a system of voting that enables them to vote for the candidate of their choice?

To me, the obvious answer is that the voters did not base their selection on the choices in front of them, but rather voted against something because someone they disliked was in favour of it.

Extrapolating the NO vote in EE and NS out to the rest of the districts, its easy to see that the votes received in favour of the status quo were not really based on their belief in multi-member constituencies, but rather cast in order to appease their candidates.

No matter what Premier Bush

No matter what Premier Bush as done he is always talked about GOOD OR BAD like Deputy Premier said at the meetings the other night it is because of where he is from. What the PPM wanted and hoped for when they did the CONSTITUTION was that Kurt or Alden would have been the first PREMIER. Well little did they know that the man from OLD BUSH would be the first PREMIER and that is something they can not take from him.
I have always supported Mr. Bush but i do not agree with everything that he do we are all human and make mistakes. Look at the mess PPM left us in and UDP are still trying to clean it up.

Apparently they forgot to bury the horse at the funeral yesterday, buddy. Sorry 'bout that. Read the latest headlines on CNS please. The horse has come back from the other side! I hope he tells McKeeva what it's like over there. Unfortunately the donkey is still running around kicking up dust and breying and snorting as loudly and obnoxiously as ever.

"Bring a motion that the Government should take note of the turn out" My gosh! Get over it Ezzard! Its over! move onto something else- such as a motion to the house which could help the people of your district- or the people of the Cayman Islands- I can’t believe McKeeva means so much to you- you must go to bed with him on your mind- everything the Premier does you chasing after it. Is your middle name "Scrutinize"? Feel good about your results yes- but FOCUS more now on your own district. Some people just can’t or won’t let go. Cha!!

In my own personal and humble

In my own personal and humble opinion, Ezzards motion makes a whole lot more sense than McKeeva's motion to have the whole world call him honorable for all the rest of eternity. Hell Ezzard's motion even sounds like it's coming from someone with a brain still in his head. By the way, did you hear how many times McKeeva called Ezzard's name at the meeting in Bodden town the other night? Talk about going to bed with him.

This type of looney would

This type of looney would certainly like to believe, and would like to have the public believe it's over. Wait until the udp ends up with one third of the voting public's support on election day. THEN it will definitely be over. Too bad, or perhaps good for beloved McKeeva that he might not be allowed the privilege of enjoying that grand event, given the three police investigations currently in progress concerning him.
