More severe punishment for some prisoners

I think that more severe punishment for certain prisoners should be administered. People who break into a person's home, steal their belongings, threaten them or assault them - if and when they are caught and imprisoned should be given very harsh punishment for their crimes. Since they have cut out 'flogging' which used to deter criminal acts the Law makers need to come up with a new Law that will deter some of this lawlessness that is taking place in our Island! It is very ridiculous what is taking place and seem to be getting worse by the minute.  Human rights are not protecting us who are being robbed over and over again!!

We have to use hurricane shutters to block our windows and doors because they are mashing up the glass. We have to pay to get new windows for our house, our cars and then turn around and feed the prisoner who robbed us. They can have good meals at prison after stealing our money and we are left to starve. No one is looking out for us.  They can have a good night's sleep while we have to be up watching and listening for every sound around us while they have prison guards surrounding them.  They have medical, dental and all their needs met while we have to suffer!   Now we have become prisoners in our own homes. Do something to help us please!!

I whole-heartedly agree!  The

I whole-heartedly agree!  The thieves and robbers get the money and the victims get the shaft.  When (If) the bastards are apprehended, the punishment is so namby-pamby that it is no deterrent.  All you do-gooders should be glad I'm not running things..... It would be 40 lashes (public) for the first offence and death for the second.  I GUARANTEE you that crime would go down very quickly.  Yeah, yeah....... I know all the bleeding hearts think I'm a weirdo, and maybe I am.   But sometime tough problems need tough solutions.

I agree

I fully agree, especially as the lack of support from police is shameful. I have come across accusations of insurance fraud after my friend's apartment was robbed twice within 6 months, instead of support and even a lead was provided and ignored. In another case a friend of mine had proof that her stolen goods were in someone's yard. A surveillance camera showed a car when she was burglarised, and she found the car but the police said they have no right to go to that person to look at anything on their property.
Even when providing them with evidence, they just seem to be too overwhelmed (or ignorant? or ???) to deal with all the crime happening daily. This island will soon have burglar bars & high fences all over like in the rest of the Caribbean and third world countries. People will be afraid to go out. It is a shame that government won't accept outside help to clean up.
Harsher sentences and deportation when applicable need to be enforced! Why do lawmakers not see that?
