Is Apartheid in The Cayman Islands
Caymanians do not seem to realize the seriousness of their own plight of joblessness surged by this UDP government election since 2009.. I am speechless, that unemployed individuals are so quiet and thinks that it's ok to live in poverty daily and be denied the right to work in their own country. I can't think of another country in the Caribbean that tolerates this kind of situation Here Are The Facts: Cayman is truly an apartheid country, and it can not be denied. The elite amongst us including leadership have already denied the presence of gangs in our schools, well who will be the first to deny apartheid in the Cayman Islands?
It's here.... For individuals to launch an attack on anyone whether, nationality, black, white, rich or poor, simply because there is concern about the plight of joblessness amongst Caymanians, is truly history in the making. The $40 million dollars sitting in an environmental fund wherein not even the environment is benefiting from it, was simply being recommended that those funds be utilized to create jobs and put Caymanians back to work, as a result, a cyber civil war was ordered and resulted in an attack on anyone supporting the advancement and success of the Caymanian people who dare to recomment those funds be better used to create jobs.Shocking isn't it?
This may be a hard pill to swallow, and many of you will be in denial, but history is repeating itself in a British territorial jurisdiction that claims the freedom of democracy as a way of life. In February 1990 President FW de Klerk announced Nelson Mandela's release and began the slow dismantling of the Apartheid system. In 1992 a whites-only referendum approved the reform process. On 27 April 1994 the first democratic elections were held in South Africa, with people of all races being able to vote.
Since Cayman Islands election of the UDP government in 2009 only foreign individuals have been guaranteed the right to work while Caymanian born individuals have been denied and thrown slave labor menial cleanup jobs for only two weeks out of the year. South Africa was an apartheid nation that kept black people into captivity for way too long ending in the early 90's.Why in heaven's name would the people of the Cayman Islands tolerate apartheid elements coming into this little island that are clearly against the success of their own people?
Apartheid is truly a part of the socioeconomic structure that promotes and propagates the failure of the local people. This is truly disheartening. I suggest Caymanians that are jobless should appoint a leader amongst them and make an important decision how you are going to put a stop to this injustice and claim your rightful birthright position in Cayman's society. 'A RIGHT TO WORK"

There is no Caymanian
There is no Caymanian unemployment problem. There is a Caymanians not wanting the jobs that are available problem.
What a load of complete
What a load of complete tripe!
I am not aware of a single individual, Caymanian, Non caymanian, Temporary resident, permanent resident, Stais GHolder, natuiuralised or hereditarily entitled Caymanian who is guaranteed a job. If the employer does not need an individual at the outset they will not be hired and if they no longer need them they will be let go. The immigration law allows certain individuals to remain in the country as long as their employer still wants them there. That is a completely different thing. During the recent ecoinomic downturns a large number of peiople across all above categories have lost their jobs.
Remember also that a very large portion of permit Holders are employed by Caymanian owned businesses.
Are you saying that Cayman's (Caymanian) elected representatives and (largely Caymanian) Civil servants who drew up and enforce the regulations are not enforcing the 'Caymanian first ...if qualified to do the job' rules. The key is in the last part ..' if qualified' is not the same as 'if they aspire to be paid'

Let's put it out there. Hypocrites can't stand exposure!
Apartheid is here! lets get rid of it.
I'm glad this post was made.
I'm glad this post was made. And it goes to show that the mentality is really on some Jim Jones Juice. 3,000 unemployed people begging 20,000 plus x-pats on work permits taking their jobs to "Go Home" is really a heck of a good reason to deny apartheid, especially when you don't realize that the apartheid is right under your nose, if it was not so, why are 3,000 Caymanians begging for jobs and are being kicked in the face by this government who have preferences for foreign labor that generates revenue in work permit fees.
Is that not apartheid?
You lying rascals.
Stop drinking that UDP juice.
Assuming there are 3000
Assuming there are 3000 Caymanians begging for jobs, what jobs do you want them to have? Which of the expat jobs do you want them to do?
anything they are qualified
anything they are qualified to do. They are entitled to a job in their own country BEFORE any work permits are issued. Yours sincerely from an ex pat!

So, no answer to the question....
And i bet the majority of
And i bet the majority of posters who claim that aparthid is not here are expats of white skin!!!
And the poster who brought this to the forum, Thank you this has been brewing for quite sometime.
Segregation and Aparthid, all begins when one race wants dominence of another race in this case it's the social ecomomic race war rich against the poor.
Hell the Pinoys just had reps come from their country to tell us in Cayman what their people must have and deserve. Yet back home what and how are they treated?
It's here and this too has not to be swept under the carpet and hidden until it blows up in our faces.
Hardly any of the white folks
Hardly any of the white folks can vote. So who is it that's enforcing the apartheid you see?

Anonymous 8:06
Are you the same individual that DENIED GANGS in the schools?
Do we have gangs now?
Will you finally understand that Apartheid left South Africa and relocated to the Cayman Islands. X-pats-vs- Caymanians?
Who is occupying all the jobs?
Who is being denied jobs?
20,000 + foreign workers on work permits
3,000 unemployed Caymanians?
Menial cleanup temporary work offered to Caymanians twice a year by this government two weeks out of the year?!
Come off the pipe and sober up yourselves.
You're all in denial.
Apartheid is here!
You're all too ashamed and embarrassed to admit that it is so.
Here's how to get a job when
Here's how to get a job when you have no experience and no skills. If you have no education you will also need to work on that parttime.
First take an unskilled job, show up every day on time and do the work. Be enthusiastic. Do this long enough to have some credibility. If you have to have a certain salary or a certain kind of job, stop reading.
Second, apply for a better job somewhere else. Bring a recommendation from your current employer. He will give you one even though you are looking for another job because you have given him good work. (He may even offer you a better job where you are.)
Third, keep at it. The world actually does not owe you a living no matter what the socialists say.
But will it pay 50k and how
But will it pay 50k and how many sick days do I get?
I, as a young Caymanian man,
I, as a young Caymanian man, has to disagree with this viewpoint posted in this forum. While I maye have a bachelor's degree and gainfully employed making a comfortable salary, this was not always the case. If I was to include every job I've ever held, my resume would be 5 pages long, and I'm under the age of 30. I have never had a problem getting a job. I believe wholeheartedly that it has more to do with attitude rather than aptitude. I've worked construction, bartending, sales to name a few along with the usual office jobs. I have goals in life, most of which require money, so rather than gripe about not having money, I work. Rather than whine about wanting a better job, I work three jobs. Again I am back in college, pursuing another degree (self-funded) while stil holding two jobs. Difficult? Yes, however, but in order to attain my aspirations I'd rather put forth the necessary effort than hold my breath waiting for our Government to provide for me.
Oh, please we are not
Oh, please we are not victims. We choose to live our lives a certain way. Read "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People". There are no excuses. I'm sick and tired of hearing people blaming other people for their problems. If you paid attention, you would notice that you make the same mistakes over and over again because you take the same steps over and over again and expect a different result.
This might be true in some
This might be true in some case's but at this time not all case's we still have alot of room to make a living sad to say we are getting there, this is coming from some one who went thought it. The mind set is here bankers and lawyers same to have it the most but it is spreading. If you pay attention you will notice how people speak about Caymanains in negtive tone. There same's the locals can do right they are always protrade in a negtive way. This is one of the first signs of segergation.Over Christmas i was at a party where Caymanain kid where a shame of being Caymanain and where proud of being half expat,i have never came cross this before but this tells me being Caymanain is being demonized and this is other part of segergation. For now we are ok but in five years i don't know.
Reputation is earned. Not
Reputation is earned. Not proud of the reputation of Caymanians? You might be proud of what that reputation was but now? Caymanians reputation was built on how they have treated "others" and also how they have treated themselves in the near past. Cry all you want but from a non Caymanian perspective it is well deserved.

It saddened me that the day
It saddened me that the day in early August which marked the freedom of slavery in the Cayman Islands is no longer celebrated or noticed. Ignoring race issues within the society is just another example of denial. Listen to Roy Bodden or Frank McField as they have been saying this for years.
The only thing Frank McField
The only thing Frank McField can teach anyone is how to shoot yourself in the foot.
Watch out! Frank is
Watch out! Frank is Whodatis's hero.
Why not call it a holocaust
Why not call it a holocaust and really take the theatrics all the way? If you look a little more carefully into the economy of this country you will find it is a little bit more complicated than you think.
Firstly, look up the MEANING
Firstly, look up the MEANING of the word "APARTHEID".
Secondly, there is a vast difference between 'Unemployed' & 'Unemployable'.
Thirdly, it is NOT the Responsibility of Government to Create Jobs, rather it is to create the Policies that encourage Business-growth.
Finally, there is no other country in this Hemisphere that affords so much opportunity to it's people. Our problem is not a lack of 'Opportunity, but rather our generally POOR ATTITUDE of 'Entitlement', as you so loudly display.

Whoever wrote this is on crack, Caymanians do not realise or appreciate how good they got it.

If you took half the time to get to know Caymanians maybe you wouldn't have such a bias opinion. I hope you give yourself the opportunity to get the know the ppl belonging to the country you blessed to occupy.
Many are hard working wonderful people including myself. To truely belnog to a place you should get to know the people and open your mind.
I have seen segregation with my own eyes
Everyday across the island whites are separated from coloreds. This is a widespread phenomenon and it is here to stay. I am of course talking about doing the laundry.
There is no other apartheid here in cayman.
Would this poster rather we send away the doctors and lawyers and replace them with the unermployed?

You obviously woke up on the wrong side of bed today.
Making silly post like this, that goes international instantly, may be causing more harm for all of us getting a job here in the future than you think. On top of it, it demeans the severity of the atrocities committed in South Africa. If this is mere venting, I suggest you do that under one of our lovely coconut trees or at the next domino session.
Free your mind please....
