Police said the second man had been taken to a hospital by a friend and has since been released. No other details of the shootings or of they were connected have been released and the police said that West Bay detectives are now looking into the incidents.

We need to teach our girls
We need to teach our girls and boys to respect themselves and help them to develop strong self esteem. And not to run around sleeping with Tom Dick and Harry and if they do, use birth control. there is no need for our kids to be having kids. However, many young girls get involved with men who turn out to be charming and turn out to be controlling and abusive. Once you are in a relationship with children it is not so easy to get out of it. Cayman is a small place to hide from a violent abusive partner. I worked with a divorce lawyer for several years and have had client's husbands calling and threatening me with all sorts of things when I would not tell them whether or not their wife was there. I've also seen women who left their husbands and ended up in hospital from the beating their so called "loved ones" give them when they get the opportunity. This is another big problem in Cayman. Its hard enough in a big country where you can move to another state or city. Here you're a sitting duck. I think a lot of men/boys especially don't know how to take "no" for an answer because they are not taught even basic boundaries. This becomes a real problem when they are grown. Kids with parents who don't protect and gude them, don't know their own value, feel worthless and act appropriately. If you don't want to spend at least 18 years making many many sacrifices for your kids, then don't have them. They are not someone else's responsibility. Teachers can do nothing with them if you dont do the ground work and teach them to respect themselves and others. Life is hard. No one is entitled to anything much that they are not prepared to work for. Teach your kids that early in life.
We need to offer our girls
We need to offer our girls the choice of an abortion too. Broken families, teenage pregnancies and unwanted children all lead to violent crime. You want to be brought up with low self-esteem? Try being brought up by a mother who did not want you and resents you for ruining her life.

Ever wondered how your child ended up having (according to you) a reckless, heartless, gun-wielding thug for a father?
I am pretty certain that at some point in your life you found that man's violent and thuggish attitude to be appealing, cute and sexy - today you complain about it.
A major part of Cayman's societal problems is due to women just like you - but no one seems to want to touch that particular issue do they?
(Perhaps you should read my previous comment posted below?)
===========================================================
whodatis, don't even bother trying to explain. these "love-a thousand-thugs" girls know exactly from the very get-go who they're dealing with... it's not like buddy comes talking to them in shakesperean english, dressed in a pressed suit, bearing chocolates and roses. he's the loser whose pants are barely above his knees, with a ganja spliff in one hand, a beer in the other, some dirty girl hanging all over him, and 5 different women calling him for alimony. so they know. they feel great when they've stolen the low-life from the other thug lovers... they think that they're going to change him...once they realize that they can't change him and things start turning sour, that is when you start hearing the typical, "i didn't know...blah blah blah" excuses. of course they knew all along the type of person that their baby dadda was. these guys are too frigging dumb to put up a front... in fact, they don't even care to put one on - they have plenty of dumb women ready and eager to nab-a-thug.
Unfortunately my fellow CNS
Unfortunately my fellow CNS posters; its unlikely that the number is still "15" so-called gang members. This sort of activity draws in membership, the same way a casino lures the curious occasional gambler, or the corner bar attracts the weekend drinker... both ultimately become regulars and are lost to family and loved ones. Today's youth have been fed a steady diet of violent video games, obscene music lyrics, and role models who thrive on promiscuity, gambling and a gangsta lifestyle.
I can see Gov't trying to put the wheels in motion with the recent passing of the "anonymous witness" law, and hear that much more is planned... it's likely a little too late, but I am hoping that it can stem the tide.
Its a slippery slope indeed ...
We don't need a Police
We don't need a Police Helicopter, we need a dirigible anchored permanently over West Bay. The thugs there are terrorizing that community.
Why am I not surprised by
Why am I not surprised by your narrow minded response!!!! Firstly, who are you to JUDGE when you do not know the circumstances surrounding the situation!!! What gives you the impression that my baby father was a thug when I met him, remember thug life is not a quality you are born with, it is one that a person adapts after personal experiences or pair pressure!!! As stated in my initial message, he is the father of my child, which means he has parental rights, so how dare you question, why my son was with his father to begin with!!! Your message gives me the impression, that you are the type of person that would not try to help young Caymanians who have gone a stray, you would rather sit there and stereotype them, instead of being your brothers keeper and reach out to them. This world needs more people that are willing to look outside the box and try to find a solution for the problem, so pointing fingers as to who's the blame and criticizing ones decision or choices only makes matters worse. My point in sharing my personal experience is to make people aware that violence is taking over these islands, so we need to put a stop it in every aspect, so that we can all be safe!!!
On a one to one level - you
On a one to one level - you are absolutely correct - I know not the circumstances surrounding YOUR particular situation.
I can see how my initial post may have personally offended you, especially if what you are saying is in fact the case, and assuming that you are not a fibber - I do apologize (for the hurt feelings).
However, even if your situation is one out of the rarely excusable category - in the grand scheme of things - it is a bit irrelevant.
The fact remains that this dilemma extends far beyond any single case.
(See poster's remarks at 18:46 for example.)
Regardless, I stand 100% behind my words when applied in a general sense.
Women get far too easy a pass today - especially with the "don't judge me" garbage.
Is anyone "not judging" or supporting the role of the "thug" in Cayman society? No! Why should we treat his typical run-of-the-mill "baby mudda" any differently? The majority of them need to quit using their children as scapegoats.
Male thugs tend to end up in prison - "loosey-goosey" baby mothers tend to receive mommy's support and often a check from the government to top it off. (Many a female Caymanian professional is forced to make that embarrassing drive to Northward Prison on birthdays and Christmas.)
Which is the properly functioning adult individual? I'm confused here.
Anyway - again I will cut this short as I know this topic is ALWAYS a pointless nosedive into mantras, mottos and clauses.
I'm appalled after reading
I'm appalled after reading 10:04 Whodatis' posting. You mean to tell me we have convicted murders, twice convicted even, roaming our streets freely amongst us even shopping in baby stores? Why are these people not in prison? Convicted murders? Are you kidding me? They should be in prison for life shouldn't they under our penal system, well I believe in capital punishment as a stronger deterrent, but walking the streets of Grand Cayman.
Cayman was so much nicer back in the day when there was only 10,000 of us Caymanian's living in Cayman. Everybody knew everybody, cause an accident to stop and let you out, now try to get out onto a busy road.
The police commissioner needs to abandon the ole Elnglish ways of not carrying firearms. The thugs aren't afraid of the police, they walk into night clubs and blow people away in front of many witnesses because they feel, and seem to be, above the law. Our police deserve the right to protect themselves as well as the public. In fact I agree with the recent motion in the LA to allow citizens to protect themselves as well. I am a highly trained individual in the use of firearms who could responsibly own a firearm in my household for protection purposes, I'm not saying to carry, that should never be allowed. But at least allow the police to protect themselves and carry out their duties properly armed for the job.
In the U.S. the Constitution of the United States of America says "The people shall have the right to bear arms". We don't have these same civil rights in Cayman.
The way to prevent firearms and drugs from entering our small country is to secure our borders. This means our shoreline with increased patrols by water (24/7) on all four corners, air support with night vision which has finally arrived (24/7), and Customs needs to examine each and every shipment into our islands without fail. This is a huge task but apparently is necessary. Hire more Customs agents? The country is broke but we must find a way.
Well it is like shooting is
Well it is like shooting is becoming a hobby and a normal part of society all of a sudden!! Seriously, if they were to hire me to run DTF/USG or be a part of it no questions would be asked!! He pulled out a gun and that is why he dead now. Simple if you police know who the guys are forget the dam law bust down door and finish it! Need a Adam's type of policing round here!
Why not set up another road
Why not set up another road block. This seemed to have been the solution to the majority of the crime wave in 2009 and seemingly it has produced incredible results!
Another day, another
Another day, another shooting, another robbing. Just a typical Cayman day.
Let's change our motto from "The islands time forgot." to "The islands that forgot to control crime."
And just where is our leader
And just where is our leader the premier when trouble is in paradise? Oh, he's off island again, on a nice short vacation in Cuba (where else?)!!! I have never seen a leader off island so much. He is definitely the #1 frequent flyer! What a man loves to fly, fly free, stay free & eat free! AMAZING! Our country is bankrupt but he continues to live & travel like a king! AMAZING!!
This violence will keep on
This violence will keep on happening until our lazy politicians get off their back sides and pass legislation that does 3 things:
doubles the minimum penalties for violent crime;
ends the revolving door parole and bail systems that keep these violent criminals on our streets, committing more violence and intimidating people. There should be no parole for violent criminals, and bail should be very difficult to get for persons charged with any violent crime;
makes Northward into a place of punishment not a spa. That means no cell phones, no A/C, no take out food on demand, no TV, growing their own food and working to justify their release back into society.
Why do our politicians try to protect these violent criminals by refusing to do anything to punish them appropriately for the crimes that they are committing? What hold do the criminals have over our politicians?
Please members of the LA - We don't need any more )$(*%#&$ committees. JUST DO IT.
totally agree - and don't
totally agree - and don't forget a provision for hard labour. Out in chain gangs from dawn til dusk. You eat what you get. You have to eat rubbish when you are sick in the hospital. Why should Northward be a better option than the hospital?
I have to agree with 10:39 I
I have to agree with 10:39 I have live in West Bay all my life and i ant no todays chicken but there is NOT enough protolling in these areas and for what reason only God Knows. I'm sorry but the police need to make there self be none they have there bullet proof vest ok if they need extra ammo give it to them but instead of parking off empty cars to stop people driving thru a certain area please use those cars and protroll the areas that needs to be protrol it would be much appreciated by the community. Because I for one could avoid going thru either of these areas i surely hell would because thats the fear we have that we could be hit by a stray bullet at any time.
the police are so corrupt it
the police are so corrupt it is never going to end if the ones who are suppose to protect arent even straight how are the criminals going to be.
killings just leave heartache. when will it end?
God knows best and Cayman has been needing a wake up call....
From you a young mans Point
From you a young mans Point of view......
Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do.-Benjamin Franklin
We waste too much of our time blaming the police, government, media etc when we should be blaming ourselves. The quicker we accept blame the closer we are to having a safe Cayman. It seems like the easiest thing to do is to say "The police needs to do this, the police needs to do that!" How many people actually volunteer their time to the police to help out? How many would actually speak out against this gang violence publicly instead of turning a blind eye until its one of their own who are hurt or even worst killed? Lets all try to make Cayman safe people lets help our neighbors!
Round up all 15, give them
Round up all 15, give them each a baseball bat and put them all in one cage.
Then let them slug it out with each other until they are all dead.
I'd even buy tickets to watch.
I say, lets send them to
I say, lets send them to Afganistan since they like to shoot. I bet they wont last long over there.
BTW, how are these guns getting into our Islands??????
Is Customs not doing there job!?!?!?!
The Police are at the wrong
The Police are at the wrong places, the wrong times. Instead of being parked on West Bay Road for hours, go to the areas that these shooting are taking place. If 15 names are on the Police file and known for these crimes, then park at their door mouth and stay there for hours. All the areas that the shootings are taking place just have 7 different police cars stationed at each area. Its about 12 police cars that belong to the West Bay station anyway. If the Police doesnt have protection, get them their bullet proof and their ammo too. They are humans as well and need to be protected so help them protect themselves. These shooting always take place the same areas. There is not enough protrolling. Weather the ploice wants to admit it or not. Because some innocent person could of been shot again last night just by innocently driving cross the area, going home, visting family, going shooping, getting something to eat, basketball, football etc. People do not even feel safe driving on the road anymore. This is a small Islands and should free to enjoy it and raise our children up feeling safe. That they can go by a friend house, go to football, basketball or just even take a ride on theri bikes. Come on now!!! POLICE PRESENTS ARE NEEDED!!!
These shootings are very
These shootings are very serious issues that needs to be addressed.
But maybe some money could be spared for adult education?
Not sure police PRESENTS (presence?) will solve anything, nor will WEATHER (whether) they admit it or not.
I not getting into the rest of the typing and spelling errors but you get my drift.
"Please" don't be as petty as
"Please" don't be as petty as the Police. Stop going on and on about other people mistakes and spelling errors, please GROW up! At least this person is trying to voice their opinion and have good points. I guess you didn't have anything constructive or positive to say! This is probably one of the reasons why a lot of people don't waste their time going to the police either, always going about things the wrong way.
Maybe you should of typed "I
Maybe you should of typed "I am not getting into the rest of the typing and spelling errors etc. Instead of bad English saying "I not getting". I guess everyone makes errors. get my drift.
Whyare we giving the police
Whyare we giving the police presents?
I AGREE 100%!!!!!!!
I AGREE 100%!!!!!!!
Bring in some Los Angeles and
Bring in some Los Angeles and New York City cops that know how to deal with this kind of violence. We need help Cayman. This must stop
Policing techniques have had
Policing techniques have had less impact on crime in New York than a) raw increases in police numbers and b) the positive effect on violent crime of the greater availability of abortion services.
Why would the US want to help
Why would the US want to help us?
Why wouldn't they? Who said
Why wouldn't they? Who said it would be for free......they would be paid to do a job just like how our police is now being paid!
How will we pay them? Take some of the deadbeats (who's collecting a salary for nothing) off of the force and replace them with some real cops, who would not be afraid to make a presence in these areas and do what it takes to get the job done.
All I know is something needs to be done and done now!
I will probably be criticized for this comment but frankly I don't care, I'm just fed up with all this nonsence.
I totally agree that we need
I totally agree that we need some good policing around here. We have NOOOOOOOOO good policing tactics all are from the days of battons and crazy glue!
We should be aware that the Premier and his fellow legislators cannot I mean CANNOT pass any laws that will deter crime (like some bloggers are suggesting) unless the GOVERNOR signs it into law. AN Englishman will always have the last say in this country so we can hum and haw all we want.
Remember, ENGLAND is the fastest growing crime ridden country in the world. It's just that no one wants to talk about it. Just read some of their news papers. XXXXXX
Now tell me, if our mother is a criminal our father is a criminal isn't it possible that the a few of its offspring could also follow suite? Just a thought.
So please bloggers, enough of the nonsence writtings.
will it ever end??????????
will it ever end?????????? this is all retaliation!!!!!!!! it needs to stop before someone else dies!!!!!!!!!!
How bout we just drop them in
How bout we just drop them in a real ghetto with real ganstas and see how long they last! where are the police? what are we becoming?!
I completely agree. So many
I completely agree. So many of them are punks who cry about being thugs & affiliate with "Gaza" or "Gully" (which alone is enough to make one hang their head in shame)... or whatever the trendy affiliation of the moment is. I would love to see what these cowards who hide behind guns would do if they were left in Buxton, Guyana.... or the real Gaza Strip of Pakistan.... probably cry for their mommies.
I know this is not the point
I know this is not the point of your post, but Gaza is in Palestine, not Pakistan.
Well in my case the father
Well in my case the father of my child threading to kill me with a 38 (gun) if I don't go to court and drop the case against him for abandoning our son on the side of the road. I made a report to POLICE but I guess like in every case action will only be taking after, someone is seriously hurt or DEAD!!!!!
My point is some times things can be prevented if these reports are look into seriously or investigated to begin with rather than be logged in the computer and placed on the file. It's time to take action!!!
I totally agree, the father
I totally agree, the father of my child has also broken into my house a number of times and tried 2 hurt me and at one point kill me but yet still happened to get bail on a weekend! and is still sending threats.....something needs to b looked into

prefect reply, people are
prefect reply, people are always talking what they dont know and never take a look at their life and things they have done or mistakes they have done. WELL SAID. I had a simular experience and know exactly how you feel and understand what you went through. Tell them how it is. They like to jump into people postings too much and don't know A from b. Thats why so many Caymanians are so silent about so many things.

I have to disagree with you!
I have to disagree with you! you are being judgemental towards her when you hav no idea of the cercumstances! i ahve bin in the state of a long term relationship believeing everything was great with my family until one day he just shows his true colors!! someimtes these guys put on a front just to get what they want. and when they have u where they want u thats when they show the real abuse and who they are!! open ur eyes and stop judging!!
You ever thought that just
You ever thought that just maybe the person might not have been a gangsta when she meet him
everyone makes mistakes.
everyone makes mistakes. people need to stop judging......she kept her child so what if her and him arent together now im sure thats for a reason.....look at your own life cause im sure its not perfect everyone judges when their own life is full of .........
Oh please take a look at all
Oh please take a look at all these young unwed mothers with babies....and take a look at who the father's are???? They don't think there is anything wrong with hooking up with a gansta. Just drive by the High School at 3pm, take a look at the girls and whose cars they go in or who they are talking to outside the school..open your eyes for goodness sakes...this is where the parents should be keeping a better eye on their children.
You can be your brothers
You can be your brothers keeper.
We need to look into the situation not stereotype it.
Thanks :)
Oh boo-hoo! Woe is me! That's
Oh boo-hoo! Woe is me!
That's what's wrong with this entire generation; always blaming someone else for their problems, looking pity and making sorry excuses for the poor choices they have made and expecting everyone to "understand".
Oh pul-eeeze! Go talk to Dr. Phil or something.
Right on cue! I was
Right on cue!
I was anticipating that age old excuse of "do not judge her"!
That sentiment is destroying modern day society from within - and it ALWAYS pops up whenever WOMEN are brought into the equation.
Has any single person on here said "judge not" in regards to the male thugs that are running wild all over this island creating havoc for all to endure? No!
It is all about being accountable for one's actions and choices in life - except in the cases of thug chasing females as appears to be the case!
Until we understand that these types of females (and they are no longer a small minority!) are actually half of the problem in regards to the issues with young people today we shall continue to ride this ridiculous merry-go-round.
Anyway, I have made my point (and I am certain the ladies are armed and ready with their "thumbs downs" at this very moment). I will stop right here - hopefully we will start to open our eyes to what is right before us.
** By the way, in most instances - thugs beget thugs (and future thug chasing "baby muddas" as well". Females simply need to be more selective nowadays as these "mistakes", as you call them, are now costing us our normal way of life. **
Except when you see the same
Except when you see the same mistake over and over and...
Let's stop protecting these
Let's stop protecting these people. They live among us and I want to know who is involved. Publish the names of the offenders and of the 'victims' .
