Machete attack in Courts Rd
(CNS): A young man is in critical condition after a vicious attack by two unknown assailants in the early hours of this morning. Sometime between midnight and 2:00am on Monday 15 February, a 25-year-old man, who is an Indian national, stepped outside his home in the North Town Courts apartments, Courts Road, George Town to use his cell phone to call his wife, who is currently in Goa. Shortly before 3.00am the man returned to the apartment suffering from serious head injuries. He stated he had been violently attacked by two unknown men who struck him on the head with what could possibly be machete.
The injured man was taken to Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town where his condition is described as critical. It is anticipated he will be transferred to Jamaica for further medical treatment later today.
“This would appear to be a motiveless and vicious assault on a young man who was telephoning his recently married wife back in his homeland of India,” said Detective Constable Orlando Mason who is leading the hunt for the attackers. He appealed for anyone who may have been in the Courts Road area at the relevant time and saw anything suspicious to contact him at George Town CID on 949-4222 or call Crime Stoppers on 800-8477 (TIPS).
Courts Road is fast beoming one of George Town's most dangerous streets as it has been the scene of a number of serious assaults, robberies and muggings over the last 12 months.

Don't worry word is out that
Don't worry word is out that we have a violence issue. Mac is knee deep in snow and police seem to believe we don't have a problem talk of denial. This man was lucky yet I'm sure he'll have serious health complications due to this senseless attack, I pray for him.
We need to start putting some stiff sentences and HARD LABOUR for these HM Northward hotel guest no more 5* spa treatment. The AG and Chief Justice both need to go as their doing jack nothing and should only be able to serve max 4 years each. I say that we start a petition for them to both be removed to help save Cayman. Our law enforcement are all poorly trained and lack the authority to put fear in criminals. Please let us all hope and pray for the life of the 5 year old boy who was murdered last night and for those who were attacked by these heartless animals.
The Honorable Premier Mr.
The Honorable Premier Mr. Bush is living it up with the same expats who are advising him of how to run this Country for their own long term benefit.
Folks, I know its easy to
Folks, I know its easy to place blame on others especially the politicians, however remember both the governor and the police commisioner are responsible for security of this country. Like it or not, wether its Bigga Mac or Kurt T they have no damn say on how we deal with the crime issue in this country. Its all left in the hands of the gov and the comish of police. I think its about time that residents and locals alike start protesting outside the governors house. Maybe if the violence effected him directly they might send in the british army. Lets all get real its not the politician elect its David Bain and Duncan Taylor who say how we deal with crime in this country.
This is a shame that Cayman
This is a shame that Cayman has to follow the path of some of our other Caribbean neighbours. It is time for Cayman to start actioning this type of behaviour, or else we are leading down the path of destruction where we soon will not have no other alternative but to take our fate in our hands.
What do you mean that Cayman
What do you mean that Cayman is following in other Caribbean countries paths? Don't be an ego-tistical fool who thinks cayman is all perfect. We need to blame ourselves for what's happening to our country. We can all start by raising our children properly instead of giving them the idea because they're caymanians they can take or get what they want. Some of us caymanians are a bunch of f*&#$ing hypocrites.
Where is the LOGB ???

This is yet another outrage
This is yet another outrage and my sympathy goes out to the victim and his family.
I wonder when our good for nothing world travelling money wasting politicians are going to do something about what is happening in Cayman. How long will we allow our politicians to make the disingenuous excuse that policing and the prison system are the governor's responsibility and not theirs?
What these good for nothins do not bother to remind the public is that they have the ability to legislate proper punishments, but they deliberately choose to do nothing to punish the guilty. They are making a mockery of our country. In case any of them have suddenly developed the ability to read, here are my suggestions:
1) Change the law so that there is a minimum sentence of 10 years for all crimes causing any form of actual bodily harm, with crimes such as the one this young man suffered having a minimum sentence of at least 25 years.
2) Remove all possibility of the current revolving door version of parole for all violent offences no matter how trivial.
3) Replace the current revolving door parole system with a system of sentences which are extended for every single disciplinary problem caused in prison by a person sentenced for any violent crime. My suggestion would be something like an extra year for the most minor offence, and a 20 years for any violence at all in prison. That way prisoners being released back into society would have proved their ability to behave in society.

To parody the famous song,
To parody the famous song, "where has all the beauty gone, far far away" My much loved Cayman which I came to 40 years ago to flee the lawlwess Jamaica is now as bad as, if not worse than that country!
Can you explain to me why an island about 20 miles long with an average width of 5 miles can become such a place? What are our cops doing, are they waiting for a really high profile person like the Governor or our so called Prmier to get shot.
Then again if there mentality does not excede the young police recruit whose claim to fame was to stick a ticket on my car for parking in a "No Parking Area" which in fact did not have a yellow line or a No Parking sign what can we expect of the mentality and capability of our illustrious police officers!?!
Well I guess this is another
Well I guess this is another perception according to the chief of police You know Cayman this is not by chance this is a real Plan to put this place under. You want to see Martial Law wait till when a certain nationality becomes a victim of one of these crimes, Thats the day you will see curfew and commandoes and royal marines patrolling the streets of Georgetown.
This is a terrible cowardly
This is a terrible cowardly attack. When you strip their guns, machetes and knives, what you have is a bunch of cowards who couldn't beat a fly in fist fight.
I'm looking forward to the news one day when a victim fights back and kills one of these scums.

You forget his pal Traver's son is over there skiing for the Cayman Islands so was another excuse for the government to BURN MONEY and send him and his cronies over there. MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH.
Thes cowardly b*stards are
Thes cowardly b*stards are really out of control and beginning to upset me. Are the criminals in this country going to make the decent citizens follow a curfew to avoid being attacked by these destructive and ignorant cowards.
It is really manly to have 2 people armed with a weapon attack an unarmed individual.
They are probably bragging about it to their low life friends...

Why is this victim being sent
Why is this victim being sent to Jamaica for treatment instead of Miami like everybody else? I deplore this type of attack and wish this young man every best wish for a full recovery.
To the best of my knowledge I
To the best of my knowledge I was going to be sent to Honduras; I dont think this article is correct. Indian nationals also need a visa to enter Jamaica, and that was why Honduras was selected.
CNS - please verify if it is Jamaica or Honduras he is going to.
Probably for immigration
Probably for immigration reasons. I don't think they are as free to visit the U.S. So the next best place would be Jamaica....or Cuba.
Indian Nationals cannot
Indian Nationals cannot travel to the US without a VISA unfortunately. No matter the circumstance.
This is terrible. Cowardly and terrible. Please Police. PLEASE! Let's have regular 'beats' patrolling all of the time.
Less expensive insurance
Less expensive insurance
Why hasn't he been sent to
Why hasn't he been sent to Miami - no doubt because his employer has either only paid for a ludicrous "standard" health insurance contract (not worth the cost of the paper it is written on) or, more likely, has not bothered to subscribe to any health insurance plan at all. And probably deducted (ie. stolen) the cost of the contributions from his wages anyway.
The Health Insurance Law is a disgrace and needs to be amended (and enforced) pdq to protect these low paid workers. Disgusting
Victims have to be sent to
Victims have to be sent to where their insurance boundaries applies.
probably a visa issue ?
probably a visa issue ?
What is the LOGB waiting
What is the LOGB waiting for. What is the rest of the Cabinet and back bench waiting for??? Is the LOGB just letting this fall on the new Governors shoulders for politric reasons? As the leader of the elected assembly time to "take charge" and take care of your fellow residents. Or is there a reason why you are letting crime just grow out of control ?
