In economic matters,
In economic matters, government should always remain neutral, regulating against exploitation, fraud, and abuses against employees and consumers only - but staying out of the market forces and leaving the private entities to compete with each other. The government should never be in alliance or give favors to a private entity, establishments, or elite person(s). The day they do so, is the day they interfere with the market and start unfair competition to the detriment of small local businesses and companies, because the big shots can get away easily and can fluctuate the price of goods and services. Secondly, the government makes themselves susceptible to corruption when they join hands with certain elite persons and start giving them special concessions.
Instead, our government should be in alignment with the James Miller's Report. They should lower fees, duties, permits, and remove restrictive immigration laws, and give incentives to small local companies and businesses to grow the economy. Not ally with big shots to turn people into more dependents with less opportunities. If government aligned itself to the Miller's Report, you will see not only real job creation in Cayman Islands, but wealth creation in the hands of many local eutreprenuers - and not just a few. That is how you grow the economy and make it diversified. See the report and compare it with how the party-system has looked out for their own party interest instead of the people's interest: http://www.gov.ky/pls/portal/docs/PAGE/CIGHOME/PRESSROOM/ARCHIVE/201003/MILLERCOMMISSION/CI-FINAL%20REPORT%2002-26-10F-MILLER%20REPORT.PDF
Still no reason to oppose the
Still no reason to oppose the Dart deal. Moving roads to suit private enterprise is one of the things government should do.
