How do you know Dan Duguay is

How do you know Dan Duguay is doing a good job???

Is it just because he says so? Is there any independent verification on his accuracy?? Is there any PAC reports that confirm his reports? Are there any accounts from Government over the last 4-5 years that he audited?? why should I believe this AG is doing a good job??

I strongly support this office and its independence but I am concerned that there is no INDEPENDENT verification of what he has written and what he says on the radio.

I will only support him if I can find that his reports are correct.

The fact that Mac is getting

The fact that Mac is getting so embarrassingly wound up if the best evidence that our man Dan is doing his job.

Public tenders, environmental impact assessments and fiscal transparency: these are not things Mac wants to be told about.

This is great wind-up

This is great wind-up material with no support. As usual the poster is none other than anonymous. Why do we not look on the positive side. Why on earth would any Auditor General risk losing his job because he was incorrect or out of order. He like all civil servants has his job on the line. As far as I am aware there has been no complaint against any AG over the past 30 years and I have known most of them.

Why does not Mr Anonymous pick up his cell phone and talk to the AG? Just how can people shoot from the hip when they have no clue as to what is going on? The AG is trying to make things transparent as has been promised for year after year by one Government or the other.

Clearly Mr Anonymous you have no idea what has taken place in the rest of the Caribbean in the past 40 years. Corruption has been rampant and indeed it hit Cayman in the 70s and continues. The current AG is a breath of fresh air. Do not knock him, he does not have to tollerate us. In fact I would imagine he could get a job in the Turks at twice the salary.

Finally why not check his reports on the website? Whether you are capable of understanding the content remains to be seen.

By the way I am always open to discussion if you wish to ask questions of his many fine reports. Check my telephone number in the yellow pages.

Otherwise have a nice day.

Dan Dugay is a Hero

Dan Dugay, if I could naturalize you I would.   If I could make you AG of the Cayman Islands Government for life, I would.

Please stay and show them how a civil servant is suppose to do their job.

Keep up the good work Mr. Duguay.  Big Mac can never attain the integrity you obviously possess and have maintained throughout your post instead of bowing to the likes of him to keep your job.  I take my hat off to you and support you 1000 %  Big mac needs to go except noone else would have him!

mr.duguay

Funny Mr.Bush always says civil servants and offical members should do thier job to the best of his or her ability. It is my opinion Mr.Duguay is doing a good job and is critical of which ever party that is in power. The longer Mr.D stays on his job the beter off the country will be.With the gov. annual reports so far behind the only real info is Duguay reports, just imagine no DUGUAY, .UDP. STAMPEDE.

Check his work for yourself

I highly recommend reading the Auditor General’s audit reports and special reports which are found on the www.gov.ky website. Click on “Government Agencies” from the home page, then “Auditor General’s Office” from the next page. I find them to be un-biased, a-political and full of fascinating information that rarely gets exposed in public. Especially interesting are the Value for Money reports. If any government, be it UDP or PPM took these reports seriously we would not be in the current situation. I believe Mr. Duguay has proven to be a competent man of high principle. God forbid we ever get an Auditor General that only tells Government what it wants to hear!

CNS I hear what you say but

CNS I hear what you say but other than the Clean-Up Programme, I cannot help but agree with the other posters on this issue.  He won the elections 8 months ago and in the almost 3 months he has been Premier he's done no end of damage to Cayman in the eyes of many.  From looking at the amount of support he used to have here on CNS and comparing that with the little support he seems to have now, I think those poll results could be very enlightening and might knock Bush back into the real world from whatever planet he is on right now.

CNS: OK, I'm persuaded. I've posted a poll.

As a Caymanian I am honestly ashamed. It is difficult to undestand how anyone in high office can stoop to behaving in an undignified and rediculous manner. Please ignore ignorance Mr Duguay and continue doing the fantastic job that you are obviously doing. I wish you luck in being selected for another tour as our Auditor General.

If, in the midst of bashing

If, in the midst of bashing the AG for "damaging good people" Mr. Bush is referring to Joey Ebanks, former Director.  Who thought it was a good idea to give himself interest free "loans" each month by circumventing the Board.  And also buying his friends drinks and cigarettes on the public tab and calling it "public relations", then I guess the question we have to ask ourselves is:

Would we have known about any of these capers without the Auditor General bringing it to light?  Maybe Joey's "good people", that isn't the issue.  He, as well as a few others, should not have been put in a position of responsibility.

Words can be twisted, mis-interpreted, spun, used for good or evil, taken out of context or given no context at all.  Statements can be made or edited. Rhetoric can ignite almost anything, from unfounded accusations to national pride to prejudice.

But.

Numbers don't do anything but give an accounting.

Just another excellent

Just another excellent example of him doing a thorough non politiically mtivated job.

Dan burned both sides equally. He did not care who was in office and whether his job was secure. He did his job. And when he was being belittle and bludgend by Big Mac he hit back.

This mean just does his job and does it well. Some people want him out so they can install YES MEN in the seats so they can do what ever they want and dish out favours at will.

BIG MAC LEAVE DAN ALONE!!!!

Is Dan Duguay doing a good job as auditor general?

Ok, the gloves are off now.  It's unfortunate that this wonderful little country is being represented by someone who (if in open company) most would think was a country bumpkin instead of being the head of a Government.  What Lack of Class - The Head of Government Blabbing openly on a Talk Show about a Civil Service Employee.

Being elected does not give credence to anyones Intellect either.  The bottomline is that there is no accoutability in this Country.  Most of what is needed to Manage this Country is OVER THE HEADS of many of the top officials, who only have thier job because of were they were born.

Here's one for you Dan, go check Department cell phone bills, just start with the Office Secretary's, you'll find some have government cell phone bills over a thousand dollars a month.  If you think I'm lying just ask Duguay to audit all departments cell phone bills for 2009 and you'll see.   Maybe one way Civil Service can save money is by firing those who let these kinds of expenditures happen, but I know no one is held accountable.  Furthermore - Oh thats right, departments don't turn in audit reports so there's no chance to check.

Keep dealing with the likes of the Bush Gang and his "No Accoutability Government"  and I'll offer you this prediction after the mid-year budget review:

(NEWS FLASH - Britian Takes Over Cayman Island Goverment).

SOON COME!

Kudos to Mr. Duguay. We love

Kudos to Mr. Duguay. We love you like we love Derek Haines, so never mind Big Mac and fries. We know you're doing a wonderful job that's the reason Big Mac is attacking you. You report to the governor, and not Big Mac. the day our financiaL Auditor reports to the premiere  that is the day that a dog will be hired to watch our food !

Keep up the good work Mr. Duquay.

the real reason Big Mac is attacking you is to take the SPOT LIGHT OFF IMSELF FOR WHAT HE IS DOING TO HIS OWN CAYMANIAN PEOPLE.He himself is under attack that's why he's on the air. the people of these islands egret his election to office and they realize he has fooled them to believe that he had their interest at heart. Now everything is out in the open he is trying to point a finger at poor old Mr. Duquay who is doing a fine job!  Nice try!

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF A PREMIERE SENTENCING THEIR PEOPLE TO HELL BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ATTENDING CHURCH?  WHAT A poor excuse for not serving the people of the Cayman Islands.

Now he has the nerve to impose taxation without representation.

God help us all.
